SUMMARY:Workshop with Tracie Morris: Sound and Body
DESCRIPTION:In this three-hour intensive workshop with acclaimed poet\, sound artist\, actor and scholar\, Tracie Morris\, we’ll look at how sonic intent\, sonic exploration can be cultivated as way of creating page-based and physically-embodied poetics. We’ll explore how sound was a fundamental theoretical element in different poetic forms whether page-based or live\, its relation to\, and distinction from music and how performative utterances can present a distinct voice for the same poem on the page and verbalized. The workshop will consist of conventional and experimental poetry\, free-writing\, body work\, play\, writing and revision and of course\, the live presentation of our work to each other.
