Yasuko Claremont

Yasuko Claremont (she/her/hers) is Senior Lecturer and Chair of Japanese Studies in the School of Languages and Cultures at the University of Sydney. Her first book 1985, in which she introduced and translated Australian poems into Japanese. Followed with Gen’ei: Selected Poems of Nishiwaki Junzaburô (1894-1982), 1991, and Japanese Prose Poetry, 2006, both in English, she has been passionate not only in translating poetry, but also writing critical articles about Japanese women’s artistic movements, e.g. Modernising Japanese Women Through Literary Journals’ (HECATE, Vol. 35, 2009, 42-56).
